About the Role
The reviewer is a stage in the chain, not a more senior preparer. You read each return the preparers finish against source documents and the prior year, send review notes back, and clear the corrected versions the same day so the queue does not back up. Your output is a return the firm's partner can sign after reading.
You Will
- Review every return the preparers produce, in deadline order rather than arrival order
- Write review notes in the firm's format, send them and clear the corrections
- Prepare or rework the complex returns: multistate, K-1 heavy, basis and elections
- Keep the open question list the partner reads first
- Report review findings every week, by preparer and by pattern
- Coach preparers so the same note stops recurring

About You
Your Background
- A commerce, accounting or CA-track degree for early-career roles, or two-plus years in accounting or tax for experienced roles
- Strong accounting fundamentals and the will to learn US work. We teach the US side.
Nice to Have
US experience helps and shapes the role you start in. Any of these is a plus:
- Positions, elections and their support in the file
- Basis, at-risk and passive loss tracking across years
- 1120S and 1065 allocations, capital accounts and reasonable compensation support
- Multistate residency, sourcing and apportionment
- An EA or CPA credential

You take the difficult returns and teach the preparers below you. Reviewers who earn it move up to senior reviewer or tax manager, running both the senior and quality review stages for a book of preparers.
