At Accountably, we connect top talent in India with exciting opportunities at US CPA, EA, and accounting firms. The company was founded by a US-licensed CPA who spent 7+ years inside US firms.
About the Role
You own the close for a portfolio of a CPA firm's clients. A bookkeeper keeps the ledger current; you turn it into a month the firm's reviewer can sign, with the journals, reconciliations, schedules and reporting pack done on the firm's template.
You Will
- Run the month-end close checklist to the firm's timetable
- Post accruals, prepayments, fixed asset and recurring journals
- Reconcile every balance sheet account with a supporting schedule, and investigate differences
- Produce financial statements, budget-to-actual and variance commentary for the reporting pack
- Keep the workpaper file and the query log for the reviewer
- Review the coding and reconciliations of the bookkeeping seat below you
- Clear review notes and update the client SOP with anything learned
Tools
QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Fathom, Jirav, Spotlight Reporting, Bill.com, Dext, Karbon, TaxDome
About You
Your Background
- A commerce, accounting or CA-track degree for early-career roles, or two-plus years in accounting or tax for experienced roles
- Strong accounting fundamentals and the will to learn US work. We teach the US side.
Nice to Have
US experience helps and shapes the role you start in. Any of these is a plus:
- US GAAP fundamentals: revenue recognition, accruals, leases, fixed assets
- Multi-entity consolidation and intercompany eliminations
- Cash to accrual conversion and year-end adjustments
- Variance analysis and drafted commentary
- Time in QuickBooks Online or Desktop, Xero, Sage Intacct or NetSuite
Why This Role
You run a whole client month, from journals to the reporting pack, inside the firm's own software. Staff accountants who earn it move on to the harder accounts: multi-entity, inventory-heavy, job-costed or multi-currency clients.
